According to the 1911 census, Rachel Reid (Erdis) is a widow aged 72. This would make her date of birth around 1939/40. Making her about two years older than James. They had no children.
According to the 1911 census, Alexander G Reid was 54. In the house was his wife Margaret, Daughter Louisa, Son in law Robert (Bob) Girvan who was married to Margaret (Minnie) but is now a widower. Robert and Minnie's children, Maggie age 8 & William age 5 live there also. It also says that of 7 children born, 3 have died.
Possibly Minnie, Rosanna and Alex. According to aunt Lizzie, another Alex would die.
These may be some of the offspring of Robert, James, Samuel or William
above
Two sons called Alexander in the same family both died. Apparently, it was common to call another son after one who had died before
Alexander G Reid and Margaret Hollinger's daughter Rosanna married a Mr Boyd. Apparently they rode on an open carriage and she received a 'foundering' and six months later she died. I believe the photo below is her.
